FIVE OILS THAT MAY CHANGE YOUR LIFE

We all know that scent plays a huge part in our lives. A particular perfume can remind you of your spouse, or when you smell your favorite dish, memories of how you first met the love of your life flood your mind. However, your sense of smell can do a lot more than remind you of the most significant moments of your life.

One particularly useful aspect of our sense of smell is that it can help your body heal itself. If you are thinking that sounds like something out of a B-rated sci-fi movie, you haven’t heard about essential oils. Essential oils can help you relax, lose weight, sleep better, help indigestion, and reset the central nervous system. These oils are good for more than just smelling nice. They can help you lead a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Essential oils can have positive effects on the body, mind and spirit. You don’t need to do a lot of work to get the benefits of these oils. All you need to do is apply them on your skin or inhale them with the help of a diffuser.

Now that you understand the general benefits of using essential oils, let’s get to the specifics of how you can heal your body with different essential oils. But, before we get to that, it's important to know that essential oils aren’t exactly oils because they lack fatty acids. Essential oils are basically plant extracts. The price depends on the labor and/or the amount of plants required to extract the oil.

1. Tea Tree for Skin Blemishes
Tea tree is one of the many essential oils you can apply topically. This is great news if you are looking to treat skin blemishes like acne and fungal infections. Just add a drop of Tea Tree essential oil to a cotton ball and apply it to the skin. Most skin care products have Tea Tree essential oil as an active ingredient.

2. Lavender for Mood Boosts
If you are looking for an essential oil to help you relax, then lavender is your best bet. It works well on cuts and bruises, too. Lavender scent was shown to reduce the stress hormone concentration in the blood, which is why you should always put a few drops in your bath.
 
3. Chamomile for Better Sleep
You may have heard about chamomile in tea circles, but it is also used as an essential oil for its relaxing effects. A drop or two of this essential oil in a cup of tea can help you sleep better at night.
 
4. Thieves to Fight off Colds
Thieves has a long amazing history that I will get into in another post. Thieves essential oil is a powerful combination of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus Radiata and Rosemary essential oils blended together for an aromatic blend that fills any space with a rich, spicy aroma. Thieves could be used to help reduce the time and affects of your sickness. My personal favorite is Thieves Tea (1-2 drops Thieves, 2-3 drops Lemon and honey to taste!)

5. DiGize for Digestion
DiGize essential oil is a combination of Tarragon, Ginger, Peppermint, Juniper, Lemongrass, Anise and Patchouli essential oils blended together for a spicy, exotic, aromatic blend. DiGize essential oil also includes Fennel essential oil; the use of which dates back to ancient Egypt. This oil is great for indigestion or after a big meal where you need help with digestion. I use it mostly if I get a stomach bug.
